The Magnificent Rabbitfish (Siganus magnificus) is a visually stunning and active species, celebrated for its unique coloration and role as a valuable algae grazer.

This captivating fish, also known as the Magnificent Foxface, displays a beautiful combination of bright colors, with a white body, a large black saddle-like blotch, and a distinctive black facial band. The dorsal, anal, and pectoral fins are often edged with a vibrant yellow or red. This medium-sized specimen, typically 3" to 4" in length, is a great choice for adding color and functionality to any large marine aquarium.

• Distinctive Coloration: The body is primarily white, with a bold black band across the face and a large black saddle marking on its back. Fins are often fringed with yellow or red. It can change to a mottled, darker pattern when it is frightened or sleeping.

• Venomous Spines: Like all rabbitfish, it has venomous spines in its dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins. While the sting is not usually fatal, it can cause significant pain.

• Temperament: Generally peaceful with other tank mates. It can be housed with more aggressive fish, as its venomous spines deter predators. However, it may become aggressive towards other rabbitfish, so it is best kept singly.

• Reef Compatibility: Considered reef-safe with caution. If not sufficiently fed with a proper herbivore diet, it may nip at soft and LPS corals.

• Diet: An herbivore that feeds primarily on algae and seaweed. It is essential to supplement its diet with marine-based seaweed and algae to maintain its health. It may also accept some small frozen invertebrates.

• Aquarium Requirements: This species can reach up to 10 inches (25 cm) in length. Even a medium specimen requires a spacious aquarium to accommodate its active nature and adult size. A minimum tank size of 125 gallons is recommended.
